Volovolo
No sign-up file transfer

Free file transfer, no sign-up and no cloud upload.

Most free ways to send a file make you create an account, then upload the whole thing to someone's cloud and wait. Volo skips all of that — your file goes straight from one device to the other, with no account and nothing stored on a server.

Free forever · No sign-up · Files never touch a server

How Volo is different

Instead of uploading your file to a server for the other person to download later, Volo opens a direct, encrypted connection between the two devices and streams the file across. Nothing is stored, so there's no account to create and no link that expires.

Because there's no cloud storage in the middle, there's also no size cap to hit — the practical limit is the receiving device's free disk space.

Why most free tools gate and cap you

Tools that route your file through the cloud have to pay to store it and move it, so they ask you to sign up and cap free transfers (often around 2GB). Volo doesn't store anything, so there's nothing to gate behind an account and nothing to cap.

What you need

  • Any modern browser on each device.
  • Both devices open at the same time for the transfer.
  • Enough free disk space on the receiving device.

The honest limits

Both devices need to be open at the same time — Volo is a live direct link, not a server that holds your file for later. Keep the tab open until it finishes; it works best on the same Wi-Fi and connects across different networks most of the time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I send files for free without signing up?
Yes. Volo needs no account and no sign-up — you open it, create a room, and send. Because files move directly between devices instead of through cloud storage, there's nothing to register for.
Does my file get uploaded to the cloud?
No. The transfer is peer-to-peer over an encrypted connection, so the file goes straight from one device to the other and is never stored on a server.
Is there a size limit on free transfers?
There's no fixed cap. The file is streamed straight to disk rather than held in memory, so the real limit is the receiving device's free disk space — it's built to handle very large files (~40GB).
What's the trade-off for not using the cloud?
Both devices have to be open at the same time, because Volo is a live direct link rather than a server that holds your file for later pickup.
